Quest of the Aucas

Quest of the Aucas.. the real life story of 5 missionaries.. It's truly a story about, obedience, love, sacrifice, forgiveness and reconciliation... It is also about faith and courage...

I just watched a forum/ round table discussion on bloomberg a couple of days ago talking about 'fear, anxiety, aggressiveness and PTSD'... it's really interesting and amazing how our brain works...

It made me wonder about the aucas, they used to kill people at their border and even within their family. It's kinda scary actually. For a child to grow up on that kind of environment, fear and in need for security... it is like a situation where you can't even trust your own family members because they might actually kill you. The trauma that a child went through witnessing their family being killed and having to flee for their life, they grew up in fear, the emotional impact... In a way, it's kind of sad that they need to grow up in such conditions, on the other hand, I think that they are rather brave(high uncertainty tolerance) to be able to stay sane in such conditions...

I do not think they are that evil... But, honestly, I would not have the courage to do what the five missionaries did too... One of the scene that caught my attention was when the mother wanted to bury the child together with the father who wanted to jump 'the great boa', the child asked the father whether he really wanted it to be so, the father asked the child to flee and not let the mother find her again... From here, I found that although they often killed each other, the father still loved the child... There was also anger and fear in the mother's heart, perhaps, if her husband does kill himself, she has no one to protect her anymore and the other aucas might actually kill her and the family... Well, I think, deep in every person, there is this conscience, and there is love and the need to be loved...

'I am your friend, your true friend...' were the last words of Jim Elliot to the aucas...

As a child, at a young age, having to know that your father is going on a mission trip and might never return. The first question would be 'why must you go?' and 'Do you love the aucas more than you loved me?'... Probably not, it was the love that Jim had for the Lord and also obedience... I don't think it was easy for any of the five missionaries to leave their family and obey the Lord's call to mission work... But, their love for the Lord enable them to do so...

and for Jim Elliot's son -having need to go back into the same forest again to share the love of Christ with the same people whom killed your dad...

But, it is really amazing when the Lord works. The changes that can be done....And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians%203:14&version=NIV

A New Chapter of My Life...

As life unfolds it's mystery. Life is truly full of mystery. You would never know what lies in front unless you get into it... and, I just got myself into something new. Something totally new.

I achieved something today. I learnt how to take public transport. I learnt how to get to Pasar Seni from Sunway University College. This is like the first time I'm taking public transport on my own. Hahaha... Technically I am on my own, but actually I wasn't. I whispered a prayer to the Lord asking Him to guide me, and He did. I reached Pasar Seni safe and sound.

Far and Long

I'm finally back with blogging after a long long long......... time in a galaxy far far far far away...

Decisions.. Not easy to make

For we are created in His image,
All are talented in different ways,
For we are creatures of God,
Created in the image of our loving Lord,
With an eternal dimension.

As we go through life's journey,
Making decision each and every day,
As life unfolds it's mystery,
We shall make new discoveries,
Climbing up the staircase of life.

Venturing into different fields,
Searching for " Who am I?",
As the full answer we can never find,
Many will say " I want to be",
When all we need,
Is finding the answer to " Who I am."

Though we may plan this and that,
Life is not as simply as that,
There is much more in life's journey,
When most are blinded by money,
Guard thy steps and watch thy path,
That you will not be a slave to money.

Questions are as deep as the ocean,
Worries often overwhelms us,
Fears keep us inside the box,
From taking the first step of faith,
Until and unless we see the whole staircase.

Though we may know,
Know that our Lord is just there,
Stretching out His hand to us,
Wanting to carry us in His bossom,
Why wouldn't we just enter in?

Though we may know,
He is there to guide us,
His gentle hands to hold us,
He still small voice to lead us,
Why wouldn't we just listen?

Is it fear that has drown us,
Causing us to doubt,
Causing us to shut our ears,
As well as our heart.

Our Lord knows our weakness,
He knows our cares,
An invitation has been made,
"Come to me, all ye who are weary,
And I will give you rest."
Just enter into His embrace,
Into the warmth and comfort,
Of our Lord's unfailing, unconditional love.

"For I will never leave you,
Nor will I forsake you."
Is the promise of our Lord,
" I have loved you with an everlasting love"
Says the Lord.
Clinging on to these promise,
What a blessing, Indeed,
To be called His children.

For truly blessed we are,
To have such a loving Lord,
Always there to carry us,
To carry us when we fall.

For truly blessed we are,
To have such a loving Father,
To dry of the tears,
Tears that flows from our eyes,
And even those from our heart.

For we need to enter,
Enter into His embrace,
His arms are there to carry us,
His hands, there to hold us,
His voice to lead us,
So that we do not go astray.

Lord please help me to enter in,
Into thy loving hands,
Making it my dwelling place,
For there I will find comfort,
And will never be rejected.

Lord please help me to listen,
And hear thy voice each day,
Lord please help me to have faith,
Faith as I walk each and everyday,
Faith to take the first step,
Not until I see the whole staircase.

Our Lord is indeed faithful. It is us who are unfaithful and weak...
